Microsoft Teams

Microsoft teams is a software offered by Microsoft that is designed to facilitate online communication and collaboration. It's offered services include, text based chat, file sharing, and calendar planning. Teams is also designed with cross compatibility between other Microsoft office applications in mind. This post will go more in-depth into some of the cross compatibility features offered, as well as the capabilities of the applications itself. Due to the nature of teams being designed for compatibility and collaboration, it is a capable software on it's own, and gains even more features when used in conjunction with other Microsoft suite software. One notable software that Teams works well with is Microsoft Outlook

Basic Functions

Teams allows one to connect with others via chat rooms and direct messages. One of the main features is the formation of a 'team' which allows multiple members to share a small server with multiple sections. Each of these sections has room for message threads to begin, as well. 'Meetings' can also be started in these sections, in which any member of the team will be join an audio call, with the option of video as well. These teams also allow for file sharing.

Calendar
Another core function of the app is the calendar. This function allows one to schedule meeting ahead of time, and it will show on the calendar. Any individuals scheduled to join this meeting will have it added to their calendars as well. This function has a fair bit of cross compatibility with Microsoft Outlook, in which case the meetings can be shared with the Outlook calendar, and it can be configured to send reminder emails through outlook when a meeting is upcoming. Finally, meeting invitations can be sent through outlook's email service., which will schedule the meeting as well.
