Google Drive 

is a file storage service developed and offered by Google. Users can store their files on Google servers and even share those with other users - colleagues, teammates, customers, friends, family, and many more. The service is being offered over multiple platforms like Web, Windows, Mac, Android and iOS. This helps user to access, edit and share their files across multiple devices. The Google Drive service is linked with users' Gmail (Google's email) account so anyone with a Gmail account can use this service. The service is free of cost up to 15 GBs of storage and then charges a small amount based on the amount of storage the user buys. Google Drive offers a secure storage with all the files stored with highly secured encryption method. 

How to upload or create a file on Google Drive:

  1. To use Google Drive, the first thing a user need to do is to browse to Google Drive and login with Google email account. 
  2. To create or upload a file, user needs to click on the +New button and choose the appropriate option. 
  3. To upload, select File upload and choose the desired file on your computer.

How to share and collaborate on a file using Google Drive:

  1. To share a file with other users, right click on the file needed to be shared and select Share
  2. Enter the email ids of the users this file needs to be shared with in the dialogue box appeared on the screen OR Copy the link provided in the Get Link section and share it with others. 
  3. Choose the appropriate permission to granted to that particular user.

Some additional tips:

  • Google Drive offers variety of features which can be used with several other Google services like Gmail. Google Drive files can be directly attached to an email using Gmail.
  • Files on Google Drive can be accessed and managed offline on any of your devices.
